An Outing with One Of My BFFs; Having Fun On A Budget 😄💰

Updated: Jan 19, 2022

“He who is faithful in a very little thing is faithful also in much; and he who is unrighteous in a very little thing is unrighteous also in much. 11“Therefore if you have not been faithful in the use of unrighteous wealth, who will entrust the true riches to you? 12“And if you have not been faithful in the use of that which is another’s, who will give you that which is your own?

Luke 16:10-12

A week ago, I got to see a lovely, amazing friend of mine, whom I hadn’t seen in-person for about 3 years. This is Sarah. In case you don’t know, I mention her in my post about my testimony, and to be honest us meeting could only be God’s handiwork. To see that post, find it here.

The aim of this post is to not only share with you what we did, but to also share some of the places we went, how much was spent, so that you can get ideas on your next outing or date. I realized that you don’t have to spend a fortune to have a fun, you don’t have to spend money you don’t have to keep appearances, and you can still enjoy life even on a budget. It’s all about being a faithful steward of wealth as soon as now, so that even when God blesses you with more, He can trust you with it, because you’ve been faithful with the little.

Anyway, let’s get into it!

It was the 11th of December 2021, Sarah and I met in town, and our first stop was… to get food! Who doesn’t like good food and conversation? One thing about me, is if we’re going to hang out, we will eat heh.

Food and Conversation 🍽💬

So, we went to a little restaurant called mint and salt. It’s within town. I liked it because it’s a pretty decent place, fair prices and good food and the place is cute :)

We had virgin mojitos and chicken shawarma with a side of chips and some veggies.

After wholesome conversation and our bellies filled, it was time to have some fun!

Funziesss 🎳

We made our way to Sarit centre for bowling. There is a place called pins entertainment which has pool, bowling and other games. This was probably my favorite part of the day. It was so fun and would definitely do it again in the future.

I forgot to take a pic of the final score, but Sarah had 78 and I had 76, close enough 😉

After the game, we went around the mall window shopping and checking out the stores there. There are restaurants, there’s a cinema, stores with a wide array of items. It’s a great place to hang out with your family and friends.

Afterwards we came back to town, and Sarah took me to a little shop called Paul’s cookieman’s, which is her fave, and got us cookies. Then, I took her to my favorite ice cream place called Yolo ice cream and got us milkshakes. Then, we both headed home :)

Plenty of pics taken, memories made, stories and laughter shared, I came home with an overflowing sense of joy and gratitude.

How much I spent :)💰

So, this is considering all the costs incurred, including fare;

Food- we each paid sh.730 each for the whole meal

Bowling game- the price is sh.500 per person, per game and each game is 10 rounds. Also, if you don’t want to spend extra on bowling shoes, wear sneakers which have a strong sole grip. The bowling alley floor can be slippery.

Milkshakes- total cost for the both of us was sh.780, sh.390 each

Transport (fare) - for the whole journey; going to town, to Sarit and back, then going back home, total was sh.200

Total cost sh. 2,210

Some tips on going for an outing or date;

1. Plan- have at least an idea of what you will be doing and where you will be going. Discuss, communicate and agree beforehand :)

2. Budget- when choosing where to eat, look up the place online; the menu and prices, to determine if it’s within your budget range. Also, look at reviews and ask around to determine the quality of food and ambience, plus any information that isn’t online. I also looked up the bowling place plus the costs. This ensures that you have enough money set aside, and extra in case of any emerging costs. Also, be wise and don’t spend money you don’t have to keep up appearances :).👀

3. Have fun- enjoy and savor the moments. You only get one life, and are on earth for a certain amount of time, so even as you grind, remember to treat yourself once in a while, spend some quality time with your family or friends and make new memories. Also, say yes to new experiences. I usually sometimes shy away from trying new things due to fear of the unknown, but after saying yes and trying it, I enjoy it thoroughly and want to do it over and over again heh.😂

Okay lovelies, that’s all I have for y’all today. I hope that you learnt something, and if you’re within Nairobi, you could try some of the places I mentioned :)

I wish you the happiest holidays and I hope your 2022 is prosperous and blessed.🎄🎉

I’ll see you next time.

And once again, THANK YOU from the bottom of my heart for your support on this platform.💛

Xoxo.

BK.
