Hey there!
I’m back again with a new, fresh post for the week! I hope you’ve been okay since the last post on here :)
Well, I’ve been quite okay, life has been super busy, with lots of changes and I have had some challenges adjusting to it all, hence my inconsistency on here (forgive me! :( ). One of the challenges has been dealing with being super unmotivated and I would love to share some tips on navigating through such spaces.
Just know that no one is 100% productive each and every day, showing up will look different every day. Show up even when not perfect, just stay consistent and do what you can that day.
Anyway, some tips;
1. Get to the source
You know the way you can have an uninterrupted productive streak for a while, then all of a sudden you fall off?
At times it’s that you’re lazy or unfocused, at times there could be a deeper reason to it.
Try to step away for a moment and check in with yourself. Journal, spend some alone time, meditate and really focus within. Maybe you just need to remind yourself why you started what you started, maybe you need to take a break because you’re just burnt out, maybe you have some deep emotions that need time to be processed? Get to the source.
2. Step away from the socials
According to me, this would be one of the best things you could do when feeling unmotivated. Take some time off the socials. We consume so much at every moment and news from all over the world bombards us at the same time, when our fragile minds were just not designed to know what everybody is doing at each moment.
Some weeks ago, there was an incident of a lady being harassed by motorcyclists because she had knocked one of them with her car. The video that was being circulated was so horrifying. I was triggered and tired, once again reminded of the challenges I and many others face, just for being female. It also drained my motivation and energy to be honest.
It’s good to be informed but know your limits and set boundaries of what you will expose yourself to.
Also, seeing other people who seem to be living their best life and crushing their goals, while your life is in shambles really won’t help, you’ll probably end up feeling worse.
3. Do the things that fill your soul
And no, I’m not talking about binging on Netflix, or scrolling endlessly darling. In my experience, such activities can make you feel sluggish and even more unmotivated. I recommend going outside, just to bask in the sun (remember your sunscreen though!), take a walk or literally smell the roses, even better, buy yourself some roses!
Plan a meet up with your friend and enjoy each other’s company.
Find a hobby, an actual one without the pressure of making it another stream of income.
Go to a mall/shop and window shop
Basically, lift up your eyes from your screen and experience real life for a moment.
4. Talk to someone
I insist once again, no man is an island and we all need each other. Open up to someone and be honest about how you feel. Take the load off yourself and share that burden with someone else. Sharing can help you see things from a different perspective, a friend’s advice can help to reignite that passion on the inside of you, and they may also help you with what you need to progress, like resources that will advance the vision/dream you have.
5. Seek the Lord
I had to put this one in here. At times, the things we go through are beyond our understanding, or even a fellow human’s understanding, hence, we need to go back to THE ONE whose understanding and wisdom is waaaaaay beyond what our mind can comprehend.
Turn on that worship/praise music and commune with the Lord.
Crack open your bible, it’s the LIVING WORD. (Don’t let it gather dust on your shelf! or if you’re using the app, don’t let it linger in the ‘unused apps’ list lol).
Let God remind you why you began in the first place and allow Him to guide you on what to do next.
Also, we have an enemy who is ready to steal that dream/vision, fight back! Don’t go down without a fight! Don’t let him get away with his schemes. Fight back with God’s word!
That’s it for today’s post, thank you for reading through if you’ve made it to the end! Like and share this post if you’d like to, and if you haven’t join the e-mail list, don’t hesitate, input your e-mail address in the subscription box below :)
