5 things to make peace with as an adult

As you grow into adulthood, you might need to accept these things as part of life.

Hello there and welcome to another blog post! Today, I will be sharing with you five things you will need to make peace with, as you continue to adult. Some of these are hard to hear, but It’s better to know and accept them now, than later.

1. Taking responsibility for your actions

With adulthood, comes freedom. It is nice to have freedom to do whatever you want, right? But, just keep in mind that that freedom comes with responsibility. As an adult, your parents have or are slowly allowing you to make your own decisions, because this is the only way you grow. This also means that you will have to face the consequences of your actions, whether good or bad.

So, whatever decisions you make, just remember they have consequences and as an adult, you'll need to take responsibility for them.

2. Failure despite doing your best

Unfortunately, failure is a part of life and none of us are immune to it. Failure honestly sucks, especially when you do your best.

I remember experiencing this last year.

I’m currently working on becoming an ACCA affiliate, and that involves doing a course of subjects that cover different aspects of Finance and Accounting. So, after you study a unit, you do the exam that covers the coursework of that unit, and lemme tell you! ACCA exams are very tricky!

So, I did my first unit last year, around March. And I did the exam, but I missed the pass mark by 2 points, only two! Considering how much I studied, plus I also found the paper quite fair, I was really shocked. I think I had an out-of-body experience when I got my results, lol.

I felt so so so bad!

Despite this, I allowed myself to feel sorry for myself for a while, but after that, I decided to study, re-evaluate my strategy, then did the exam again, and this time I passed!

So, in your life, failure will happen, and you can’t control that. However, you can control how you respond to it.

I’ve also found that I learn more from my failures than my successes.

3. Unexpected events

They say, we plan and God laughs.

I’m a planner, I like making plans and envisioning how something will turn out. But, it doesn’t always happen that way for me, or for anyone really. As you grow, you will need to learn to be adaptable and flexible, because plans will change, unexpected events will come up, you may have to detour from the path you thought would be yours. It’s just life.

When the unexpected happens, just take a deep breath, pray for strength and keep moving forward.

4. Loss and grief

One of the things in life that I wish we would never have to deal with is loss. But we have and will lose people, things and dreams as we grow up.

I'm mentioning this in public for the first time, but back in January, I unfortunately lost my sweet cat, Pepper. Of course, losing a pet is not the same as losing a fellow human, but it is a loss nonetheless.

It was sad, and difficult, considering how quickly, and unexpectedly it was.

She was the first pet I ever had, so it felt horrible to lose her, since I had nurtured her for almost two years.

There’s no one correct way to deal with grief, but I encourage you to deal with it. Don’t suppress. Feel that wave of sadness when it comes, cry, scream, do what you need to do. This is the process you need to go through to get to the other side of acceptance.

Remember, for the person you lost, they lived their life, and their story was meant to end when it did, but yours is still continuing.

So, even as you grieve, keep living. I’m sure they’d want you to do the same.

5. Bills!

Can you pay my bills, can you pay my telephone bills, can you pay my automobiles, if you did then maybe we can chill.🎶🎶🎶

They will always be there, and will always fall due to being paid! There will always be something to pay for, lol.

The sooner you make peace with this, the better for you. :).

That’s all I have for today’s post! Thank you so much for reading through and i hope it has inspired you in some way :).
