The greatest investment you can ever make is in yourself.
Hi there, and welcome to today’s blog post! On this platform, we take good care of ourselves, because how will you get things done excellently if you abandon yourself, yet you are the one who is supposed to do those things?
Here are some unique ways you can take care of yourself;
1. Skincare routine
Imagine coming home after a loooong day of work, taking off your make-up, gently cleansing your skin, putting on a mask, and relaxing while it does its magic, rinsing it off with some warm water and massaging in your moisturizer? That sounds relaxing to me and it’s giving self-care. I even want to go ahead and do my routine after I’m done writing this! haha. Taking care of your skin can be a great way to pour back into yourself and fill in your cup. You’ll get to wear your skin for the rest of your life, might as well take good care of it.
If you want guidance on what to do during your skincare routine, check this post out.
Also, I created an e-book with the basics of skincare. You wanna check it out? Find it here.
2. Do an at-home mani-pedi or go for one
Another great and unique way to take care of yourself is doing or going for the classic mani-pedi. If you are doing it at home, purchase a simple manicure set and look up a tutorial on YouTube and just spare some time to take care of your nails. Better yet, save up a few coins and let someone do it for you. Pedicures especially are super relaxing, because who doesn’t want their feet massaged?!?
3. Go out…by yourself
This can be daunting, but I recommend it.
Being able to just get up from your house, go out there and engage in an activity by yourself is pretty cool.
It teaches you to be independent.
It teaches you to enjoy your own company.
It teaches you, yourself, your likes and dislikes, your unique personality, your quirks and habits, and even the things about yourself that you need to work on.
It helps you become secure in your thoughts, without necessarily having to confirm them with someone else.
Start small. For example, go to a local park by yourself, sit on a bench, and just people-watch for about an hour. You could even carry your favorite book with you.
4. Read a book
Speaking of books, read them. Whether it’s a ‘serious’ book or a fictional story, reading books helps you become knowledgeable, sharpens your focus, and helps you to be more creative. ‘serious’ books, like self-help books, motivational books, and even career books can help you increase your skills and set you apart from the crowd. Fictional storybooks can give you a sense of escapism from the real world, help you relax, and, increase your creativity. Read!
5. Sleep in a little bit
How ironic of me to put this here after last week’s post was about waking up early right? Lol. But it’s here anyway, so we might as well talk about it. Rest is very essential for your health, and getting sufficient rest is a way of taking care of your body. If you have a more flexible schedule, are on holiday, or are in dire need of extra rest, sleep in a little bit longer than usual. You may have to sleep earlier or wake up later than usual. You will feel better. Plus, with a rested mind and body you will be more productive than if you’ve been working and on the move 24/7.
6. Do something new
Try new things, go to new places, and try to include new habits in your life. It expands your mind; you learn more about yourself and you may even meet new people. A comfort zone is a beautiful place, but nothing grows there. Give yourself a chance to experience something new.
A comfort zone is a beautiful place, but nothing grows there
That's it for me on today's post. I hope you've enjoyed it :)
Remember to take some time off and take care of yourself!
I'll see you on the next one,
xoxo,
BK.
