Here are six free mobile apps that will help you stay organized. You already have one of them on your phone!
Hey you and welcome to this week’s blog post. I hope you have been well since last time and I hope you are looking forward to today’s post.
Before we proceed, I’d like to remind you to like, comment, and share this post with a loved one. Also, feel free to join my e-mail list to get notified each time I post, plus to receive my monthly newsletters right in your inbox!
Anyway, let’s get into it.
I will ensure to provide a link to download the apps I will talk about, as well as an accompanying screenshot for some of them, for you to see what it looks like on the inside.
1. Your phones clock/timer/stopwatch
The first app is something that you don’t need to download as your phone has it. Your phone’s clock is a simple yet effective tool that will help you stay organized.
You can use it to set your alarm when you wake up, time yourself when doing various tasks, or estimate the time it takes for you to do something.
I find this app handy every single day because I use it to set my alarm. I also find it extremely useful during study sessions, as I can allocate a specific amount of time to one thing. And once the time allocated for that task is over, I move on to the next, thus helping me to be productive.
I also use the stopwatch to help me estimate the average amount of time it takes me to do something so that I can allocate the appropriate time for various tasks, or I can adjust some things to be more efficient.
This app is a lifesaver, use it.
The next app I’m going to tell you about is the google keep notes app.
This app is amazing because you can not only type your notes in it, but they will always be safe even if you change your device.
The app is connected to your Google account, so even when you change phones, you can still get your notes, as long as they’re backed up.
I use this app A LOT to jot down my notes. Be it reminders, ideas, thoughts, things I would like to research, and so on, I always find myself reaching for this app.
Part of adulting involves responsibility. And one of the main responsibilities we need to take care of is our finances.
Well, worry no more, here’s an app to make things easier.
Introducing the spending tracker. This app is super easy to use. Every month, you get to track your income and expenses.
The only downside of this is that you’d have to do it manually, instead of it adjusting itself automatically.
However, I believe this can help you be more intentional and careful of your spending. At the end of every month, it gives you perspective on how much you earn and spend, even though it may be a rough estimate.
This will help you stay organized as you can set your monthly budget, and it helps you find innovative ways to reduce your spending and save more.
Another classic app is Google calendar.
Just like the Google notes app, any information you put in is saved to your e-mail. So, even if you change your device, you can still access all the information you’ve ever input.
This app is handy in reminding you of major events like birthdays, anniversaries, and such. You can prepare yourself beforehand in the ways you need to before a particular event arrives.
At times, you may have so much on your mind that you may forget someone’s birthday.
And you don't want to be that person.
So, this app will help you a lot in that regard.
Next up, we have a super cute notes app called the Cumo notes app.
This is similar to the Google notes app, just that it has more cute features to it.
With this, you can choose the background that you’d like for specific notes.
There’s a large variety of backgrounds to choose from.
If your style is cute and simple, or simply functional, you can find it here.
Another perk of this app is that you can use your Google e-mail address to back up your notes.
I had had this app on my old phone, and when I switched phones, I was able to load my old notes and still access them via my new phone.
I use this app for more deeply personal notes. Like noting down what I may be going through in a season of my life, or even how my day was.
This app is one of my faves and I really think you’d like it if you got it. :)
6. Forest app
The last app on this list is the Forest app.
This app is a productivity kind of app, that allows you to allocate time for specific tasks. It teaches you to focus completely on that task without distractions.
Here’s how it works.
So, when you select a task like studying and choose to allocate thirty minutes to it, once the time starts, you will ‘plant’ a tree and it will start to grow.
If you cancel or give up on the task before the total time has elapsed, your tree will wither and you’ll need to start again. If you allow the timer to finish without giving up, you will be rewarded with a healthy tree.
As you continue to complete tasks within the allocated times, you will get many healthy trees and thereby get a forest.
For example, last year November to December was full of studying for my exams and I used this app a lot. As you can see this was my forest over that time.
You may wonder what the point of this app is, like why would I care about accumulating a forest that’s not even real?
Well, the psychology behind it is that we are likely to stick with habits that reward us. If you want a habit to stick, it’s important to create a reward system that will fuel you with motivation and desire to continue with the habit, because you can anticipate the reward coming.
In this case, it’s a full forest with healthy trees. As you perform a task and maybe get tired and want to give up along the way, you remember that you only need to let the time reach zero (while doing the task!), and your discipline will be rewarded with a healthy tree.
I know it may sound silly, but it works!
Alrighty, that’s the end of this week’s post.
I really hope you’ve enjoyed it and are leaving feeling inspired and ready to get your hands on the app that stood out to you the most from this list.
In the comments, feel free to let me know which app you’ll be getting.
I delight in hearing from you!
I will see you on the next one :)
Xoxo
BK.
